Moving Again

So I'm moving blogs again. I have my website, http://www.layer8apps.com, that I never use for anything so I turned it into a personal blog. Feel free to check it out if you want.

Woops

Apparently I fell off the face of the planet... my bad...

Things have been going well lately, excluding yesterday.  I've been watching a lot of movies, seriously, probably at least five movies a week.  Rebecca and I both work at the theaters so we see movies for free, and then we both enjoy movies so we tend to stay up late watching movies at my place.  Sure it may seem boring to most of you, but I love movies because they make me just lose myself and I can forget about my own worries while enjoying a nice few relaxing hours just laying around.

Made a new Magic deck, well new to me anyways.  It's a Warp Worlds deck, which I'm sure most people are familiar with.  If you're not, here's a general idea of how the game goes.  Turns 1-10, play as much crap and get as many things into play as you can.  Somewhere in turns 8-11, play Warp Worlds and completely screw the entire game.  Sounds like fun eh?

Went to a foam party the other night.  That was insanely fun.  It was at Sky Bar in BG, and they filled the entire place with soap bubbles.  I was not, however, informed that it was also goth night, so I was severely out of place with my dress apparel.  Of course, if you know me, you know that I just turned that into more fun for the night.  Danced to some screamo heavy metal shit, most of it sucked, I knew a few MSI songs and such, but it wasn't really my music.  Either way, it was a blast, I recommend everyone do it.  Read my Facebook for more information if you'd like.

On the third, Rebecca and I drove to Sylvania to see the fireworks.  It was awesome and we found a perfect place in a field.  Except for the fact that my car is now completely covered with dirt, it was a lot of fun and very nice.  The fourth was when we went to the foam party.

Yesterday I got two tickets on my way home from work.  One was for not stopping at a red light and the other was for having expired tags.  I always forget expired tags.  The stupid red light one pissed me off the most though.  At Douglas & Sylvania it's a four way stop (obviously) but if you're going down Sylvania towards Jackman and you hit Douglas, if the light turns red, the people to the right of you going up Douglas into Michigan get the green.  As does their turn lane.  In all other instances, there's a green arrow there for the people on Sylvania, but there isn't at that intersection.  I saw the cop and knew he had me.  I'm a bit pissed because I can't really afford that now, but it's my own fault and I'll manage.

That's about all that's new.  My parents are out of town this weekend so I'm having some people over tonight, that should be fun.  Tomorrow Rebecca leaves for North Carolina for a week so I'm going to have to entertain myself this coming week.  I'm using my final two vacation days to leave Wednesday after work to go pick her up.  I'll be gone all day Thursday and then come back Friday.  It'll be a nice two days away and I get my road trip that I wanted!

Birthday

First off, thanks for everyone who sent me messages on my birthday, you managed to annoy the hell out of me with so many of them.  But it's ok, I had a great birthday:

1.) Got a CamelBak
2.) Got a digital camera
3.) Went to a party where I filled my CamelBak with Vodka and Monster, amazing!
4.) Worked a decent amount
5.) Got to meet all of Rebeccas family except for her mom (I say all because there's six brothers and sisters, and their significant others)
6.) Bought a Wii (but it's actually my dads)
7.) Beat the crap out of everyone in Wii boxing

That was my amazing weekend!

Life

Well since my last update, I realized I was just being more stubborn than anything else about the job.  I think Ian summed it up best (imagine that eh?) when he said that by agreeing to work with them, I accepted a responsibility to come in every day and show up.  That's probably the most logical answer to that situation that I've ever heard.  Luckily I convinced my boss to give me some vacation days, so that helps out a bit.

Not much is happening really.  I'm in a relationship now, it's going wonderfully well.  Spent three hours last night just sitting in the park and talking about random things that came up.  With the wonderful weather and such, the time just flew by and it was absolutely amazing.  Such a nice night.

My tire popped last weekend, that sucked.  So I've been working on getting a new tire this week.  Unfortunately they're expensive as shit and even with the help from my dad, it's looking like I'm going to be stuck on a donut for another week and a half.  Quite depressing, especially since I just want to get this over with.  Especially since you're only supposed to drive about 20 miles on a donut, and I've gone about 220.  Yeah...

I've been staying up later recently, for obvious reasons.  It's making staying at work kind of hard, and I need to get to bed about an hour earlier than I have been recently, unfortunately it's not really that easy.  Oh well.  So yeah, that's my life in a nutshell.  Rebecca and I are looking for a party or something else to do tonight, any ideas?

Jobs

I sit here and think to myself, how many people really are what they do?  People like to use the phrase "You aren't your job", but lately it seems more and more people are just that.  This started yesterday when I skipped work for no real reason other than to relax and pick up some lost sleep.  Well I was informed that if I decide to skip work for no reason again, then I'll be given 30 days to find a new place to live.  Kind of bullshit in my opinion, but when I'm living at my parents house what can I really do?

I'm not worried about that, I can find a place to live before the next time I decide to skip work if I want to that badly.  What really bothers me is how much people are controlled by their jobs.  My mom mentioned that there are plenty of days she just doesn't want to go in.  Well what's stopping you?  I mean, I call off two or three times a month which is probably a bit excessive, but still.  If you called off once a month, would it really be that big of a deal?  I get paid hourly so it's a bit different for me, they don't have to pay me for time I'm not there.

I just fail to see how people can place so much importance on their job, yet claim it's not who they are.  You figure you're supposed to get 8 hours of sleep a day, and a full time job has you working 8 hours a day, that leaves you 8 hours a day for yourself.  I know those numbers are off because people work more than 8 hours, or don't get 8 hours of sleep, but that's not the point.  So that means that 1/2 of your entire day is spent at work.  I don't want to be 40 years old and be so bored with my life that I would rather go into work every day than take a day off for myself.  That's not who I want to be.

There are always more jobs out there, more opportunities for people and perhaps something more enjoyable.  So why do people think they have to go to their jobs that they don't want to just to get by?  Sure money is a nice incentive, but it's not hard to get money if you just apply yourself and make sure you have what you need.  I mean I'm a prime example of that.  I skip all the work I've been talking about but I still manage to make my credit card payment, laptop payment, car payment, rent, insurance, and my Owens payment.  Oh yeah, and still have some money left over to spend on myself.  So it's obviously not that hard.
